Atlantic Bay Scallop (Argopecten irradians)

is a species of saltwater clam native to the East coast of North America. Yes those little blue dots are eyes, scallops actually have around 100 simple eyes around their mantle. Although it looks like the scallop has teeth  they are simple filter feeders and don’t eat anything of substance these teeth are tentacles that simply help the animal move food into its mouth. All in all scallops are basically awesome, they also taste good!

As you know if you frequently read my blog, I encourage everyone to eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible. Fresh produce is a cheaper and far better choice than the frozen or canned options. It is great for your skin, health, and waist-line — who could have a problem with that!?
